Superior Ease of Energy Star Certification
The EPA's Energy Star program was developed for the purpose of educating the public concerning the best building science available, as determined by the EPA, to improve the energy efficiency, comfort, and indoor air quality of new homes, and to reduce our nation's energy requirements.
An EPA webpage, entitled "What are ENERGY STAR Qualified New Homes?," reads in part, "All ENERGY STAR qualified new homes are certified to meet the EPA's strict guidelines for energy efficiency and is verified by a third party. All ENERGY STAR qualified new homes receive the ENERGY STAR label, indicating to consumers that these energy-efficient homes are more comfortable, more durable, cost less to own, and are good for the environment."
"What are ENERGY STAR's energy efficiency guidelines for new homes?
To earn the ENERGY STAR label, a home must be verified to be at least 30% more energy-efficient in its heating, cooling and water heating than a comparable home built to the 1993 Model Energy Code (MEC), and 15% more efficient than the state energy code." -US EPA
The website for the Energy Star program includes a page listing five "Features of ENERGY STAR Qualified New Homes." Superior Foam's insulation system PERFECTLY and COMPLETELY addresses 3 of the 5 features listed: (1) Tight Construction (Reduced Air Infiltration), (2) Tight Ducts, and (3) Improved Insulation. Our insulation system also partially addresses the remaining 2 features listed: High Performance Windows (we address the "Air Tightness" attribute of this feature by perfectly sealing around windows with the most expensive canned foam on the market), and Energy Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment (our sealing of the ducts and overall insulation system allow for the reduction in the size of the HVAC system required to keep the home comfortable.
